On September 13, The Umbrella Academy's Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) answers a fan's question about how strong Five Hargreeves is during a Q&A on his official YouTube channel.

​

I "Five easily pins Lila during their first fight. And in the second fight, he is able to throw her off when their roles are reversed. So exactly how strong is Five, especially while in his teen body?"

 

 

First of all, who's Lila Pitts?

​

For those who've forgotten, Lila Pitts is the Handler's adopted daughter. She was raised and taught how to fight by the Handler herself, from a young age. She's also 1 of the 43 children who were born on the same day as the Umbrella Academy siblings.

 

And her power? To mimic other people's power, though it's limited to one at a time.

​

Back to the question, and the fan is referring to a scene in The Umbrella Academy season 2 episode 5 "Valhalla", and a scene from episode 10, "The End of Something". In the first scene, Five fights against Lila. 

​

Ultimately, Five wins the match, pinning Lila down and holding her there by pressing firmly down on her throat.

​

Skip forward to the second scene, and the roles are reversed. Instead, Five is underneath Lila. However, Five is able to push Lila off of him.

​

So, how strong is Number Five?

​

According to Aidan, fans have yet to see the full extent of Five's strength.

​

I "I think we haven't seen the extent about how powerful Five is. And as seasons go on, you will definitely see him get stronger and stronger, especially as his body gets stronger."

​

Aidan then refers to how Five's DNA was altered during his time with the Temps Commission in the Dark Horse comic books.

​

I "But Five's DNA was bonded with that of all the most murderous vicious serial killers throughout history, so it's in his DNA to be aggressive and chaotic."

​

 

He also adds that Five's sanity, or lack thereof, contributes to his "rage" and hence, his strength.

​

I "And his own insanity that came from the apocalypse sort of combines with that of the serial killer insanity, so he's always quelling rage. In terms of how strong he is physically, I don't know. Pretty strong. I mean, he can take down a lot of people, but that may just be his skill set and his rage, so I don't know."

​

So, how strong is Five? Pretty strong, and it's safe to say that fans will only see a stronger Number Five as the show goes on.
