TUDUM's Netflix Fan Event DISAPPOINTS Umbrella Academy Fans

"NO SEASON 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS???????!!!!!!☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️" "Bruh, not even a release date?" Disappointed fans write on the live chat.

On 25 September, TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event was released after high expectations from fans. Unfortunately, a majority of The Umbrella Academy's fans were left disappointed due to the lack of mention of season 3, including its release date.

Let's rewind.

For those who don't know, Netflix released a fan event that lasted over 3 hours. Fans could share their opinions during the live stream on the chat as their favourite TV shows appeared. Here, exclusive content such as sneak peaks, trailers, etc., from popular Netflix series were revealed.

Fast forward, and on the 2:26:48 mark, the Umbrella Academy cast finally appears with Elliot Page (Vanya), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Tom Hopper (Luther), Robert Sheehan (Klaus) and Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) as they answered fans' "burning questions".

Unfortunately, none of the pre-selected questions were about season 3. Fan favorite, Justin H Min (Ben) was also missing from this segment which disappointed many fans.

Meanwhile, the first question to the cast was: “What was it like filming the finale of season 2?”

Elliot Page (Vanya) was first to speak, answering that shooting the final scene was "incredibly fun".

"Shooting the final scene of season 2 was incredibly fun."

David Castañeda (Diego) then added his opinion to fellow co-star Justin's character's hairstyle, revealing that he constantly called Justin "Baby Diego".

"It was really fun. Justin Min had to wear a certain specific kind of hair and the whole time I just kept calling him 'Baby Diego'."

And as fans already know, the Umbrella Academy siblings (except for Klaus) weren't able to look at Ben as he was a ghost during the entire time in season 1 and just before the end of season 2. This time, however, Ben is alive and kicking in the final scene of season 2, and Emmy joked that it was "nice" to be able to finally look at Justin.

"It was really nice to be able to actually look at Justin H. Min in the face for the first time in two years."

Surprisingly, the cast hadn't known how season 2 would've ended. Elliot reveals that the fact that Ben was alive in the final scene of Umbrella Academy season 2 had also came as a surprise to them.

"We didn’t know all the details so the surprise about Ben at the end was a surprise for us."

Tom also chimed in by saying they were also just as confused as the fans as the Sparrows at the time were just "silhouettes", as the actors and actresses were yet to be cast.

"Uh, confusing because none of the actors that had been cast as Sparrows this year were actually cast yet so it was just silhouettes."

The other questions, however, were quite general: "What is your go-to karaoke song?" "Name something there’s 7 of", "Are you a morning bird or night owl?", "Signature dance move?" and "Favourite superhero?"

A more relevant question to The Umbrella Academy series was "Describe shooting a group scene in one word".

To this, the cast answered the following: "Fun, exhilarating, chaotic, debauchery, shenanigans, chaotic, hilarious, hot and destruction."

Another question was: "Who never breaks (character?)" Emmy responded by picking Aidan, who she deems as "pretty good" at staying in character.

"Aidan is pretty good at not breaking."

Elliot then added that he believed Aidan is the "most professional" of them all.

"Aidan is pretty, I have to say, clearly the most professional of us all. What else is new?"

Finally, the segment comes to an end, with hardly any mention of season 3, save for when the cast told fans how they couldn't wait for them to watch season 3.

"We love you and we can’t wait to show season 3 [...] We truly can’t wait to share season 3 with you."

So, how exactly did fans react?

The majority of fans were bewildered at the short segment, and the lack of information and details on the upcoming season 3. For context, fans had waited almost 2 hours and a half for The Umbrella Academy segment to air, with the hope of a few exclusive snippets from season 3.

Suffice to say, these fans were extremely upset. A few of these fans' messages from the live chat are shown below:

"NO SEASON 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS???????!!!!!!☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️"

"wow we waited and no teaser"

"THAT WAS ALL??"

"and that's all of the umbrella academy content we r gonna get"

Others also pointed how there wasn't even a release date for The Umbrella Academy season 3.

"Bruh, not even a release date?"

So, how did The Umbrella Academy segment compare to other highly anticipated Netflix series featured on TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event?

In comparison, a Stranger Things season 4 teaser was shown to viewers. The Bridgerton cast also had more interesting and unique questions asked to them, and they also revealed more behind the scenes tidbits.

Meanwhile, Cobra Kai shot an amusing segment of the cast on their journey trying to deliver the teaser for season 4 which they eventually showed, and viewers were treated to an exclusive clip from The Witcher season 2.

In other news, the official Umbrella Academy Instagram account, has deleted all their previous posts, leaving just 9 posts, with 8 being unavailable.

“There’s been a snag in the timeline - these posts are temporarily unavailable)

(The one post that’s still there is of Ben telling fans that Sparrow Academy was born in 1 October 1989 and telling them “you're welcome” and that they’re “a gift”.)

Fans can’t understand the meaning of the 8 posts, making their confusion known in the comments section:

"IM SO CONFUSED"

"STOP THIS WHAT DOES IT MEAN ????"

Meanwhile, some believe it’s to do with Number Five and his abilities to jump through space and time:

"Five… what are you doing!?"

"WHAT DID FIVE DO THIS TIME?!?!"

"I think 5 screwed up big time!"

"HELPP WHAT DID FIVE DO 💀💀💀💀💀"

The Umbrella Academy season 3 has finished filming and is expected to release next year in 2022.
