Umbrella Academy's T.J. McGibbon (Young Vanya) SPEAKS OUT About Bullying After Hamilton Teen Death

On October 10, The Umbrella Academy's T.J. McGibbon (Young Vanya) tweeted out and posted on Instagram about the death of Devan Bracci-Selvey, a 14-year-old student in Hamilton.
T.J., a local Hamilton resident, spoke out about the incident on Twitter and Instagram.
I "I have been quiet. It has been a hard week. I am absolutely heartbroken over the murder of Devan Selvey outside his high school. He was only 14 years old. I am 14 years old."
I "This is not the Hamilton I know and love. We must do better. Change must happen. We need more teachers in schools, not less. We need trained counsellors that focus on mental health and most of all we need parents and our communities to come around our schools and support both students and staff."
I "Our leaders need to put more funding into our schools. We need proper supervision to deter bullying. Our zero tolerance policy must be enforced. More education is needed on how to speak up and stand up. And to my fellow students, if our leaders will not act like adults, we need to lead. Speak up when you see something, stand up for your friends and classmates and treat others with respect and kindess. Love Loud."
T.J. ends the post by giving out the contact details for "Kids Help Phone", a Canadian charity, at 1-800-668-6868.
Fellow The Umbrella Academy co-star, Eden Cupid (Young Allison), also sent out her condolences in response to T.J.'s Instagram post.

What happened to Devan Bracci-Selvey?
On October 7, Devan was stabbed to death outside his school, Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, in front of his mother. His death involved two teenagers, a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old, who were both charged with first-degree murder.
Prior to this, it had already been reported to the school that Devan was being bullied. Others who knew Devan are accusing the school of doing nothing despite receiving the reports.
Devan's best friend, Mikey Mcentee, was also bullied at school together with Devan. Mikey's father, Shawn, had complained to the school four times previously and even to the police at one point.
As of now, Shawn is refusing to send his son back to school.

A GoFundMe has been created to aid Devan's family funeral expenses.
