During an exclusive interview on Tuesday with AOL during their 'In The Know’ segment, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) all but confirmed how he felt about the relationship between the famous Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy...
Let's rewind.
Ever since the release of the iconic Harry Potter books, millions of fans began shipping certain relationships between the characters we all know and love. For example, 'Harmione' for Harry/Hermione and 'Huna' for Harry/Luna.
In fact, you could probably find any pairing between any of the characters under the Harry Potter universe. After all, it's is one of the most popular fiction world out there.
But there's one pairing that reigns supreme over the rest. And that pairing is none other than 'Drarry' AKA the Draco and Harry pairing.
And, you've guessed it, Tom Felton happens to be one of those shippers.
During the interview, Tom Felton and fellow Harry Potter co-star, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) were asked to play a simple game called 'Fact or Fanfic'. Basically, the actors were asked to say whether a statement was a fact or a fanfiction.
Of course, there were the usual statements. But all were forgotten when the one statement every fan was impatiently waiting for finally appeared:
Even while he was with Ginny, Harry was always in love with Draco.
The response was instantaneous as Tom answered in a heartbeat:
I "I think it was clearly a fact. Harry was constantly crushing on Draco. He just couldn’t hide it.”
And... cue the squeals.
Even Rupert joined in by cheekily adding:
I "I think he made quite an impression on Ron as well.”
To which Tom responded that it could've gone either way.
I “Yes. Well, exactly. It could have gone either way, really.”
It seems like Draco was quite a hit among the Gryffindor boys!
But then this is where it all goes south for the Dramione shippers out there as unfortunately, we've got some rather bad news for you.
...Tom doesn’t quite think that that particular pairing stood a chance.
I “I think that’s a fanfic.”
Fun fact: This wasn’t the first time that Tom had spoken out favourably about 'Drarry'. In 2011, back when Tom was a guest at the late-night talk show, Conan, Tom revealed that he was completely aware of the fact that there were thousands of fanfictions shipping the Draco and Harry pairing.
And it didn't just stop there. Tom also knew that fans would also often photoshop the two together. Who else thinks that Tom was secretly all caught up with the 'Drarry' content?
I “These aren’t just words, they have attached some rather alarming pictures [...] illustrations [...] doctored photographs.”
Meanwhile, Conan was well prepared for this question because he quickly whipped out one of these said pictures, much to the audiences’ delight. And what did the photoshopped picture look like? Well, it was a picture of Draco holding Harry in bed with both of the boys looking seemingly undressed.
As the audience squealed and applauded, Tom took it all in stride as he laughingly responds:
I “My brother actually has that on his screensaver. He found it hilarious. And he actually told everyone that he took the picture and it was real.”
What a hilarious brother! We all have got to love the brotherly love shown between the Felton brothers.
Fun fact #2: During the Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) in 2017, Tom was asked that if he could have stolen anything from the Harry Potter’s set, what would he have wanted to steal?
I "What would I want to steal? Radcliffe."
We've got to love his witty answer! Now if only we can see the two together again on the big screen. Who else agrees?
Of course, we still have a shot if Harry Potter and the Cursed Child gets picked up and turned into a movie. There's been no plans of it as of yet, but if there was, Tom confirmed that he would definitely be happy to return as Draco Malfoy.
Er… can someone start a petition, please?
