On October 19, Tana Mongeau reveals to fans that she loves that Shane Dawson is using the name “TanaCon” as a shade in his new "Conspiracy" eyeshadow palette.
Let's rewind.
Fans have been curious after finding out that a shade in Shane's new "Conspiracy" eyeshadow palette is going to be named "Tanacon" after the TanaCon controversy last year in June.
During an Instagram Live, a fan brought it up and asked Tana her thoughts on it. And how did Tana respond?
Quite positively, actually. She reveals to fans that TanaCon "was such a negative experience" but the "light at the end of the tunnel" was Shane.
When Tana speaks of Shane as the "light", she's referring to Shane's documentary on the TanaCon controversy, which helped Tana tell fans her side of the situation. As a result, it helped bring her into a more positive light to fans.
Tana continues to explain that "the palette is such a positive thing" so for him to use a negative thing for such a positive thing is great.
Tana then adds that for something so "impactful" in her life to also be something that was so impactful for Shane that he chose it as a name of a shade in his "Cospiracy" palette is "really crazy".
She finishes off by saying she's proud of Shane:
I "I just love Shane. I’m so proud of him. It’s absolutely insane. [...] He just continues to amaze and probably always will."
So, what was the TanaCon controversy?
Basically, it started when Tana was banned from VidCon. As a result, Tana created her own "TanaCon" that was to be held nearby and on the same weekend as VidCon.
...However, it was held in a ballroom that was too small for the amount of tickets sold (4,000 - 5,000), and a lot of fans couldn't get in. Most had to wait for hours in that particularly hot day, and some couldn't even enter at all.
Furthermore, the luxury gift bags that Tana promised would be worth a good amount of money, turned out to be cheap and tacky items, such as "TanaCondoms." Another problem was the fact that there weren't enough staff or security at the location. In the end, TanaCon had to shut done even though there were still fans waiting to enter.

Shane later did a 3 part series on his YouTube Channel on the whole controversy. It's over 1 hour and 30 minutes long, and it has gathered a total of 56.7 million views altogether. This shed more light on what happened behind the scenes and it places Tana in a more positive light.
