On January 25, Tana Mongeau released her new perfume, "TANA by Tana". Fans, however, are criticizing its $48 price point.
The long-awaited mystery product that Tana had been teasing all week, turned out to be a perfume, "TANA by Tana", and fans were excited.
Initially, fans were thrilled, but several quickly became disappointed when they realized that it was priced at $48.
So, why aren't fans happy about Tana's perfume price?
In Tana's commercial video, Tana explained at the ending that she was "poor" growing up. This meant that she would purchase perfume as cheap as $5.
Check out what Tana said below:
I "I grew up poor as f**k, so I'd always been stealing or trying to find money to buy very cheap perfume. And my favourite cheap perfumes were the quintessential Target, Walgreens, Walmart [...] $5 a bottle [...] just like hooker scent."
Due to this, several fans are criticizing Tana for selling the perfume at a relatively high price, considering she came from a poor background where she struggled to buy the perfumes that she wanted.
I "Tana: “I grew up so poor I had to steal the $5 perfume from Walmart because I couldn’t afford it.” Also Tana: charges $48 for her perfume"
I "Nothing makes me more mad than “I use to be poor” ppl charging poor ppl 50$ for something they couldn’t afford if it weren’t for us."
I "What! Wtf was the whole talk about being poor and knowing what it’s like not to afford it then?"
In other news, Tana revealed that she'd been wearing the "TANA by Tana" perfume for the past six months when she was out in public.
I "I was wearing this scent during meet and greets, during shows, if I went out in public to meet you guys, if I went out to clubs [...] and like, getting compliments on it for the last six months."
She added that she was even told by models Winnie Harlow and the Hadids that she smelt "so good". Tana then excitedly told fans that she couldn't wait to finally meet fans who will be wearing her perfume at future meet and greets.
