On January 12, YouTuber Tana Mongeau slams Daniel Silva's legal response for stating that Corey was "partly responsible" for his death.
For those who don't know, Ink Master's celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Silva drove under the influence back in May 2020 which led to the death of YouTuber Corey La Barrie who was in the passenger seat on the night of his 25th birthday.
Daniel was sentenced to "364 days in jail, five years probation, 250 hours of community service and a suspended prison sentence of four years”.
Since then, Corey's parents have filed a "wrongful death lawsuit". According to TMZ, Daniel's legal response to the lawsuit states that Corey was also partly responsible for his own death as he "assumed the risk of death when he jumped into Daniel's car that [...] night".
Tana reacts to the news article by TMZ, titled: "Daniel Silva Says Corey La Barrie Caused His Own Death" by slamming Daniel and calling for justice in a series of tweets:
I "oh my god no f*** no"
I "yo daniel silva idk u but f*** u and i wish u the worst & i hope u see this !!! how do u live with urself ???"
I "justice for corey"
In a response to Tana's tweets, a fan posted:
I "[Daniel] was sentenced to one year!!! For killing corey! And there are people doing life in prison for marijuana charges and identity theft!! Our system is f***ed up!"
To which Tana immediately replied:
I "EXACTLY THISSSSDSSSSS F*** YOU DANIEL SILVA. U TOOK THE LIFE OF MY FRIEND. SOMEONES BROTHER. EVERYONES F***ING FRIEND AND BROTHER FOR THAT MATTER. HIS FRIENDS BEGGED U NOT TO DRIVE THAT CAR THAT NIGHT. AND TO SAY ITS COREYS FAULT???????? oh my god how f***ing disgusting"
Tana then continues to voice her thoughts in a separate Twitter thread:
I "bro i cant even sleep right over this daniel silva s***. i swear to god if corey even gave someone a paper cut that kid was so genuine he’d own up to it and apologize. and to see a soul like that taken from us by a person with a soul so clearly evil. 1 YEAR IN PRISON?"
I "AND PEOPLE ARE GETTING F***ING EXECUTED FOR PETTY F***ING CRIMES???? PEOPLE, FATHERS, GOOD PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED IN OUR PRISONS AND TERRIBLE PRIVILEGED F***S LIKE THIS ARE GETTING ONE YEAR SENTENCES???? f*** the system and f*** daniel silva"
I "and f*** the media for headlines like some i’ve seen tonight... they should all say not a damn thing other than justice for corey and f*** selfish drunk drivers."
I "praying for every single one of my strong friends who were close to corey tonight :( <3"
How did Daniel Silva respond to the backlash?
Daniel stated that he did not have “any role in the court documents that have been filed” and was “not given the opportunity to review them before they went to court”.
In an Instagram Story, Daniel writes:
I "In no way do these legal proceedings filed by an insurance company on my behalf in response to a lawsuit reflect the grief I am experiencing or the love I have for my best friend Corey and his family."
I "I have remained silent out of sympathy and empathy for the La Barrie family, and at the request of my layer, but cannot let this misunderstanding continue without a response."
I "I did not have any role in the court documents that have been filed in the civil lawsuit against me and was not given the opportunity to review them before they went to court."
I "They do no reflect my personal beliefs on feelings about what happened that night. I wish nothing by healing and kindness for everyone involved."
I "Thank you to those who have shown me love and empathy. I will be posting a more meaningful message about this tragic loss and experience soon."
