On January 10, executive producer Shawn Levy confirms that Stranger Things season 4 will not be premiering on August 21.
Let's rewind.
For those who don't know, rumors have been circulating on social media after a Twitter account, Netflix Updates, (@NetflxUpdates) claimed that Stranger Things season 4 release date is set for August 21, 2021.
However, the executive producer of Stranger Things, Shawn Levy has clamped down on the rumour, stating that it’s “not true”.
On January 8, a fan asked Shawn in a tweet:
I "@ShawnLevyDirect can you confirm if this is true?"
Two days later, Shawn responded by saying that it wasn't:
I "Not true, sorry."
Why was there so much confusion over the August 21 release date?
The majority of fans were confused as the Twitter account had looked "official". Furthermore, the post had amassed over 12.8k likes and over 3.1k retweets.
However, some fans questioned the validity of the source by pointing out that unless the official Stranger Things or Netflix account tweeted it out, the release date will most likely be inaccurate.
Despite this, fans were thrown into more confusion when a screenshot of Stranger Things' Noah Schnapp's (Will Byers) alleged comment on the release date was shared amongst fans.
According to the screenshot, Noah had posted:
I "That's so far away"
Stranger Things season 4 is currently filming. Stranger Things season 1-3 is available to stream on Netflix.
