On January 11, Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown revealed how they felt when new characters were added to the popular Stranger Things series during their Q&A panel in West Hollywood, California.
It started off when Finn (Mike Wheeler) and Millie (Eleven) were asked how they felt when, for example, Robin (Maya Hawke) and Max (Sadie Sink) were added to the cast of Stranger Things.
For Finn, he explained that he was "always happy" for the actors, knowing that it's a big deal to be added into such a well-known show.
I "Whenever new characters get added, I get so happy for them because it's honestly so weird and rare that you get a chance to be on something like this. When someone else gets added, it feels like you're recruiting someone else on this really weird [...] special mission team or something like that for just insane actors. I'm always so happy for the people that come on."
Millie also agreed, saying that she was always "excited" for the new actors, too. She added that it was like "reliving" the time she was cast in the Stranger Things series.
I "When somebody else gets added, it’s like, you’re kind of reliving you getting the part again. That excitement is kind of like, oh my goodness, I know how you feel."
Luckily for newcomer Maya Hawke (Robin), this was the environment she entered into. Maya said that the cast and the Duffer brothers welcomed her and made her feel like a valued member of the team, which was not what Maya had been expecting.
I "I felt really included and really grateful."
Maya had expected that she would have to try hard to "fit in" as the "friend groups" were already established. Comparing it to high school, Maya said:
I "It was really nerve-wracking, it kind of felt like [...] coming into a new school environment, like in your sophomore year, the friend groups are already established but you're there and you’re doing your best to fit in and integrate and that’s kind of what I was expecting it to be."
And what's the one question that Maya's constantly bombarded about regarding her time on Stranger Things? Well, it's none other than her Scoops Ahoy uniform.
I "Everyone asks me about having to wear the outfit. Like, I got to take it off when I went home. It wasn’t like I was stuck in that outfit the whole time. I get asked about the costume all the time like it was some sort of torture."
