On January 7, Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard's friend, YouTuber Quincy Fox, was accused by fans of using Finn's name for "clout".

Let's rewind.

Quincy Fox is a close friend of Finn and Finn's older brother, Nick Wolfhard. They are often seen hanging out together through their Instagram posts and stories. Due to this, Quincy often features Finn in his videos on his YouTube Channel "BillionaireFox". (At the time of writing, Quincy currently has over 34.1k subscribers.)

However, he soon created controversy when, on January 7, he tweeted out that he had footage of Finn and himself while they were in New York. However, he announced that he would only release it if he reached 100,000 subscribers.

Check out Quincy's tweet below:

"If y’all get my YouTube channel to 100,000 subscribers I will release the FINN AND QUINCY NEW YORK VLOG. I have precisely 174 clips filmed which means it will probably be around a 30 minute video, or more. Tell your friends, spread the word."

He then tweeted:

"Ps I already have 33k subscribers and I know there’s enough of you if you spread the word and all subscribe you can make this happen and have the content you and I can get a silver play button which I think is hilarious."

However, after Quincy's tweets, Finn's fans quickly accused him of using Finn's name to get views and subscribers.

"can you stop using finn for your personal gain? like you HAVE to recognize how messy this looks."

"for real its mad how people dont even realise how hes using finn here, i hate to think that finn doesnt realise either @FinnSkata get new friends."

Quincy promptly slammed back, saying:

"Also y’all are using Finn for your own personal clout????? Sooo???? I want a silver play button and y’all want content so I made a deal. Idc if the vid never comes out"

"Video officially never coming out. These two ruined it for everyone. Idgaf. Time to eat spicy goodness like a boss."

Fans also jumped to Quincy's defence, saying that he was close to Finn and it's very likely that Finn knew about the tweet beforehand and gave his approval. (Quincy later confirmed that this was true, saying "Why would I tweet the original tweet out in the first place if he wasn’t cool with it? Y’all are silly lmao.")

Finn has also been in Quincy's vlogs several times before, and he always appeared to have fun.

Not only that, but a lot of Finn's fans had, in the past (and even now), been grateful for Quincy's content of Finn as they were happy with any new photos/stories of Finn they could get.

Will Quincy ever release the video?

It appears that he might, but only to his true supporters.

In his last tweet of the situation, Quincy tweeted this out:

"You know what. I’m so petty I’m going to edit the whole video AND DO A GREAT JOB AT IT and then DM it to the people who have been consistently supporting me as long as they promise not to send it to anyone else. That is TRULY an epic gamer moment."

Later in the day, Nick Wolfhard (Finn's brother) even spoke out about it during his Twitch stream when a fan asked him about the situation.

"Knowing him, he's gonna finish that [vlog]. [...] He's going to make that video and he really is only going to share it with certain people."

Nick, however, continued to say that Quincy is aware that most of his YouTube fanbase is made up of Finn's fans, and that these fans are constantly asking him for more content with Finn. Quincy, therefore, was going to give them what they'd asked for.

Nick also added:

"He’s completely aware of how much of his fanbase is Finn’s, obviously."

Nick then summarized the situation:

"[They] want the video with Finn in it. Oh, okay. No, [they] don't want the video with Finn in it because [Quincy's] riding off of Finn. [...] It's like, what do you want? [...] You just can't win."

"Quincy’s family. He is. He really is. If you ever suspect Quincy of doing something off of someone else, there’s always an extra layer of reason behind it.”

Which of Quincy's videos featured Finn?

Finn appeared in 'Snowday With Finn Wolfhard(March 2, 2019), 'Epicly Later'd: Finn Wolfhard' (July 15, 2017), 'Seattle Day 1 "TAHITI ARTHUR"' (March 20, 2019) and 'Seattle Day 2! "Emerald City Comic Con 2019"' (April 11, 2019).
