Yes, we're talking about the new Charlie's Angels reboot and the chance that Kristen Stewart's character, one of the lead angels named Sabina, may actually be gay or bisexual.
And after watching the Charlie's Angels trailer, fans are convinced that this is definitely true.
Check out what hawk-eyed fans tweeted out:
It makes sense, right? And we can totally see why they would say that! I mean, the trailer does show Kristen's character having a short blonde haircut and an obvious swagger.
...But that alone isn't enough at all. So, what other clues are there?
First of all, the trailer was released during #PrideMonth. Lots of fans mentioned this interesting little fact, and we're pretty sure it's intentional. Oh, and let's not forget the fact that Kristen herself is bisexual.
Uh, what better way to represent the LGBTQ+ community than to have someone who is actually a proud member?
And another clue is when Kristen spoke about the Charlie's Angels movie and telling an interviewer that this was a 'woke' version:
“It’s kind of like a ‘woke’ version.
She even threw in that it'll be 'current' and 'modern'.
Can we get some gasps around here?!
Not to mention that we even have definite proof that the film will include feminist themes. Elizabeth Banks, a multi-talented American actress, director, writer and producer, stated that she was taking this new reboot in a feminist direction.
In other words, it'll be a world where every human being on the planet has equal status, despite whatever group they identify themselves in. And it'll be a world where all of them work together to achieve great things.
...Or, uh, to protect the world together.
So, by taking a feminist route where equality is particularly important, it wouldn't actually be a far stretch to also include an LGBTQ+ character, right?
Altogether, the LGBTQ+ community has been taking huge strides in recent years in the film industry, and we love that they're receiving even more representation than ever before.
Think Love Simon, a film about a closeted gay high school teenager and the Euphoria series where there's a transfemale as the lead. Either way, we feel that now is the perfect time for at least one of the Angels to be gay, bisexual or even transfemale.
I mean, what better way to represent the community than by having one of the lead angels actually be gay or bisexual?
Anyways, are you excited for the new reboot? And are you hoping that Kristen’s character will represent the LGBTQ+ community?
Or do you think everything is just a coincidence and that the producers are kicking themselves right now knowing that they're about to disappoint fans?
Either way, even if this happened to be false, let's not forget the awesome fact that LGTBQ+ representation is on the rise and there seem to be no signs of it stopping anytime soon.
And that's just an amazing world to be in right now. #Pride
