Yes. Today, Blackpink is trending on Twitter, and it's from an unexpected source:
Love Island.
Who would've guessed?!
In case you don't know, Blackpink, is one of the most popular K-pop girl groups in South Korea, and has recently exploded into America with them performing at Coachella, The Late Late Show with James Corden and at Times Square.
And, today, fans in the UK were treated to this clip on Love Island, where Blackpink's 'Kill This Love' can be heard playing in the background.

Heck, yeah! Some were even praising Love Island's production team!

And this isn't the first time that a South Korean group has trended before because of Love Island. Fans are comparing this to the time BTS' Namjoon trended when his name was merely mentioned in Love Island!
It was when the Islanders had to partake in a tweet challenge where they saw the public's tweets about them. A fan account @namjoonsais was amongst a tweet that was directed at Molly-Mae Hague.
Cue Namjoon's trend on Twitter after that episode.
We love that BTS and Blackpink are breaking out in America and that reality shows such as Love Island are starting to take notice.
And maybe Love Island is getting a little boost in popularity too? After all, BLINKs and ARMYs are always searching up the source of their favourite group's sudden appearance in the headlines.
And Halsey did mention that ARMYs were BTS’ main promotional vehicles and that they are strategic and intelligent individuals. (Check it out here). They even thanked Halsey for her collaboration with BTS in their song ‘Boys With Luv’, by donating to a charity she cared about in her name.
Wow.
And when Blackpink collaborated with Dua Lipa in 'Kiss and Make Up', BLINKs became busy streaming the song and thanking Dua Lipa for the amazing collaboration. The song even became the most streamed song on Spotify among Korean acts!
So we won't be surprised if BLINKs start sending out the same love to Love Island.
Anyway, we love that Blackpink's song, 'Kill This Love' was played in the British dating reality show, Love Island and we hope that they'll continue to use K-pop songs.
