Actress Olivia Rodrigo at the World premiere of Disney's 'Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil' held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, USA on September 30, 2019.

On December 28, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' star, Olivia Rodrigo reveals to fans how she loves Taylor Swift's country music, and calling Taylor "the best songwriter of [the] generation".

First of all, check out Olivia's Instagram post below:

"hi I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift’s country music and dancing alone in my room for the last hour. not to be politically controversial but she’s the best songwriter of our generation and anyone who says otherwise is LYING TO THEMSELVES. that’s all."

And it turns out her fans are fellow Swifties, as the majority of her fans are agreeing with her! A fan, however, pointed out that Olivia is also talented, and highlighted her original song "the exception"

"Taylor Swift? I only know 'the exception' by Olivia Rodrigo 🤧"

To which Olivia responded with:

"lol bet"

Anyway, Olivia is definitely following in Taylor Swift's songwriting footsteps. After all, she has already written a couple of songs for the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' soundtrack.

There's "All I Want", which she penned herself, and then there's "Just a Moment" which she co-wrote with fellow co-star, Joshua Bassett (Ricky Bowen).

Olivia expressed her excitement about it in an Instagram post on November 28, writing:

"hi i am kinda freaking out right now because people let me write a song that means the world to me for a show that means the world to me and ITS OUT NOW!!! It feels like I wrote this forever ago, but as I find myself growing, this song has grown with me and I hope you all find as much meaning in it as I have. Go stream all I want!! Also it’s in episode 4 on Friday on Disneyplus!! I think that’s everything I needed to say. I’m sorry I’m just really excited right now please help."

Olivia then posted an Instagram clip of herself singing it live whilst playing the piano. Fans can check out the clip here.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has been renewed for season 2. Production is scheduled to begin early next year in 2020.
