On January 10, HSMTMTS' Olivia Rodrigo (Nini) reacts to Taylor Swift's comment on her debut single "drivers license".
For those who don't know, Olivia recently released a new original song "drivers license", which quickly trended on social media and soon reached #1 on the US iTunes sales chart.
Charli D'amelio has since uploaded a TikTok dance to it, Sophie Turner and the Jonas Brothers reposted it on their Instagram stories, and now even Taylor Swift has taken notice of the young singer!
At the time, Olivia's "drivers license" had just reached Top 3 on the US iTunes chart.
Check out Olivia's Instagram post about it below:
I "next to taylor on the us i tunes chart i’m in a puddle of tears 😭😭😭😭"
In the post is a screenshot of Olivia's new debut song "drivers license" in the third position, right after Taylor's songs "it's time to go (bonus track) and "right where you left me (bonus track)".
The very next day, Taylor Swift commented under Olivia's post:
I "I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud 😢💗👏"
For context, Olivia is often calling Taylor Swift "mom". On December 13, Olivia wished Taylor a happy birthday in an Instagram post:
I "happy birthday mom"
How did Olivia react to Taylor Swift's comment?
Olivia immediately posted a TikTok video reacting to it.
In the video, Olivia is freaking out and lip-synching to Taylor Swift's speech at the CMA 2007 Horizon Award (an honor given to up-and-coming artists in country music):
I "I can't even believe this and this is definitely the highlight of my senior year."
On an Instagram post, Olivia writes:
I "what is breathing"
And finally, Olivia tweets:
I "thinking about legally changing my name to "Taylor Swifts baby"
Fun fact: When Taylor Swift gave the speech at the CMA 2007 Horizon Award, she was only 17, the same age as Olivia is now.
How exactly big of a Taylor Swift fan is Olivia Rodrigo?
For those who don't know, Olivia is a big fan of Taylor Swift and often posts about her idol on social media. She had previously told fans that Taylor Swift was the reason she wrote songs and on Olivia's official Spotify bio, she even adds that she's a "huge swiftie".
This also wasn't the first time Taylor Swift had acknowledged Olivia's singing skills. Back in April last year, Olivia sang a cover of Taylor Swift's song, "Cruel Summer".
Taylor had then reposted it to her Instagram stories, complimenting Olivia's "talent".
I "THE TALENT. Love This!!! Thanks for this beautiful performance"
At the time, Olivia tweeted:
I "TAYLOR SWIFT POSTED A VIDEO OF ME SINGING CRUEL SUMMER ON HER INSTAGRAM STORY. I WILL NEVER STOP SCREAMING."
