"Merry Christmas y’all! I wrote this song when I was six and I honestly think it’s my best work. Mariah Carrey is not gonna know what hit her. enjoy lol."

In the post, there's a picture of Olivia when she was just six years old, wearing a Santa hat and sitting cross-legged by a Christmas tree. There's also a one minute clip of the original song, sung by a six year old Olivia.

Here are some of the lyrics:

Red and green is a Christmas queen

Made the holidays special to me

Now let me hear it out loud, Santa's coming to town

Ho ho ho ho, wait for the bells

When you hear them put the ornaments on the tree

Ho ho ho ho wait for the bells,

Wait for the bells on Santa's sleigh to ring,

Fans can check out the clip on Instagram here.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' co-star, Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), saw the clip and immediately demanded that Olivia "put this on iTunes immediately".

Netflix's Tall Girl's Ava Michelle (Jodi Kreyman) also left two comments, saying, "Mariah Carey betta watch out" and "The beat drop". Finally, Disney's Stuck in the Middle's Jenna Ortega (Harley Diaz) commented, "the lyricism? the beat? the vocal range?? impeccable."

Altogether, fans are impressed with the lyrics and the production value of the song, which they praised as being a great feat for a six year old.

Olivia Rodrigo wrote the song, "All I Want" for the fourth episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, as well as having co-written "Just a Moment" with fellow co-star, Joshua Bassett (Ricky Bowen), for the series' soundtrack.

In an Instagram Story, Olivia expressed her genuine surprise and gratefulness at how someone was willing to take a risk on her and let her showcase her original song in the series.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has been renewed for season 2. Production is scheduled to begin early next year in 2020.
