On February 2, Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) revealed that Taylor Swift's Miss Americana documentary was the "best documentary" she'd ever watched.
In an Instagram Story, Millie posted a screenshot of Taylor Swift's 'Only The Young' song that was featured on the Miss Americana documentary.
In the Instagram Story, the caption reads:
I "best documentary I've ever watched. everything she said had meaning to me. too special ❤️ @taylorswift luv u"
This comes three days after the documentary premiered on Netflix and other select theatres.
What exactly is Taylor Swift's Miss Americana (2020) about?
Basically, it's a 2020 documentary that focuses on Taylor's life during her career. It is a "look at iconic pop artist Taylor Swift during a transformational time in her life as she embraces her role as a singer/songwriter".
Lines from Miss Americana that stood out include the following:
I “Do you really care if the internet doesn’t like you today if your mom’s sick from chemo?
I "You don’t ever say to yourself, ‘I have an eating disorder,’ but you know you’re making a list of everything that you put in your mouth that day and you know that’s probably not right, but then again there’s so many diet blogs that tell you that’s what you should do.”
I "There’s always some standard of beauty that you’re not meeting. It’s all just f***ing impossible.”
I "Like, there is no such thing as a slut. There is no such thing as a b----. There is no such thing as someone who's bossy. There's just a boss."
Taylor also asked herself why she says "sorry" when there isn't anything to apologize for.
I "Why did I say sorry? Sorry I was loud in my house? That I bought? With the songs that I wrote about my life?”
So, what might Millie be referring to when she watched Taylor Swift's Miss Americana?
Though Millie hadn't specifically mentioned anything, she might be referring to Taylor's statements regarding the internet and their "approval", the image of "beauty", and for those instances of having to apologize for nothing at all.
Of course, fans will already know that Millie constantly receives comments about her appearance. For example, haters recently slammed Millie for showing her "cleavage" in a low top when she appeared in Stranger Things co-star, Noah Schnapp's TikTok video. She was also criticized for looking "30 years older" during the 2020 SAG Awards.
The list doesn't end there as Millie also faced backlash for not using her actual skincare products in an Instagram video, which Millie has since spoken out about, stating that she "won't tolerate" the "bullying" she received as a result.
On January 23, Millie even uploaded a fan edit of the song "Fight Song" to Eleven's scenes in Stranger Things to her Instagram account, which some fans have speculated as a result to the undue hate she constantly receives.
