Stranger Things' Maya Hawke's MEMORY XPERIMENT: Kathy Acker Premieres At Nitehawk Shorts Festival

Stranger Things' Maya Hawke stars in Memory Xperiment: Kathy Acker (2019), a short 7 minutes film that will be premiering at Nitehawk Shorts Festival on November 12.


Maya is starring as Kathy Acker, a young writer who "explores her identity through sex and her writing". The film is set in the 60-70s and is based on Kathy Acker's literary work. 

Kathy Acker was an American experimental novelist and a sex-positive feminist writer and is credited as one of the writers.


The short film is directed and written by Aïda Ruilova and will be screened at 7pm on the day.

Who is Aïda Ruilova?

Director Aïda Ruilova has directed and written 5 short films between 2007-2019. She was nominated for the 2006 Hugo Boss Prize and was invited to take part in the Expo Chicago's 2016 "EXPO VIDEO" event.

The combined 9 short films will have a runtime of 97 mins.

Maya Hawke is also starring in Mainstream (2020) and will most likely return for Stranger Things season 4 that's expected to start shooting in January 2020.
