On February 7, Riverdale's Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper) slammed haters who left "ignorant comments" on her social media after she revealed her insecurities, pointing out that they are the reason people keep quiet and "end up struggling alone".
Check out Lili's tweet below:
I "How sad is it that I come forward about my insecurities and people have the audacity to tell me that my feelings aren’t valid. People like this, the ones who leave these ignorant comments, are the reason why people don’t speak out and end up struggling alone. Shame on you."
For those who don't know, this comes the day after Lili posted out a long Twitter thread explaining to fans that she feels insecure when having to do "bra/underwear scenes" due to the "expectations" people have for "women on tv".
Lili also continued to say that she struggles on a "daily basis" and have "gained weight due to depression on the last two months".
Although she received a lot of praise from fans, there were still plenty of hateful comments targeted at her. Lili then screenshotted these comments and posted it to her Instagram Story as well as her initial tweet, calling out these people.
These are some of the hateful comments that Lili screenshotted:
I "She's still white and thin, her body type is completely societally accepted; there is nothing subversive about this or her. And what, she went from size 0 to a size 2? Come on."
I "It seems to be the celebrity trend to jump on the body positivity bandwagon but my skeptic a** doubts if she's even been body shamed in her life. pointing this out also doesn't make us body shamers, just means we can point out hypocrisy."
I "How brave of Lili, at a size 2, to speak about positive body image. BRAVO"
She has since gained support for her retort, with many fans calling the hateful comments, "disgusting" and "stupid".
