On January 28, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' cast held a surprise birthday party for Julia Lester (Ashlyn).
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Julia Lester turned 20 on January 28, and the cast came together to throw her a surprise birthday party. A clip of it can be seen on Julia's Instagram post.
In the clip, fans can see Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), Matt Cornett (EJ) and Joe Serafini (Seb), Dara Renee (Kourtney) and Larry Saperstein (Big Red), all hiding in the dark, waiting. Julia can be heard knocking on the door, obviously called there under some ruse, and someone can be heard yelling for her to "come in!".
The door slowly opens, and it appears that Julia might've guessed, as a few seconds pass before she steps into the room. Loud calls of "Happy Birthdays" burst out as the cast starts applauding a bashful Julia who looks like she might cry.
In one of the most sweetest moments, Joshua rushes up to give Julia a big hug. The cast then sings "Happy Birthday" to Julia, with Frankie giving his all to a perfectly pitched and harmonized "you" at the end of the song.
Afterwards, Julia tweeted this out, sharing her happiness:
