On January 13, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Joshua Bassett (Ricky) revealed to fans that his new song, "Lie, Lie, Lie" is about a friend who had been "lying" about him behind his back.

Let's rewind.

For those who don't know, Joshua is releasing a new song "Lie, Lie, Lie," which is set to be released on January 14 at 3 PM PT.

Fast forward, and in an Instagram Story, Joshua reveals that he wrote "Lie, Lie, Lie" after finding out the truth about a friend. Not only that, but he adds that this friend had thrown him "under the bus" when it benefited them.

"I wrote ‘Lie, Lie, Lie’ after i found out a friend had been lying about me behind my back for a long time. It always sucks to hear that someone you thought you could trust would throw you under the bus when it benefits them."

Joshua then continues to say that it "happens to all of us". However, the best thing to do is to find others who will "build you you up rather than tear you down".

"It happens to all of us, and I think all you can do is seek out people that build you up rather than tear you down."

Back in April 25, Joshua had released a guitar version of the unfinished song on his official TikTok account.

Check out some of the lyrics below:

"You’ve been lying to yourself"

"Lied to everyone else"

"Only think about yourself"

"Darling, what the hell"

"I know what you say about me"

"I hope that it makes you happy"

"Can’t seem to get me off your mind"

"I know you’re lying through your teeth"

"Told them the lies that you told me"

"I’ve had enough of it this time"

"So you can lie, lie, lie, lie, lie"

"Go ahead and try, try, try, try, try"

"It won’t work this time, time, time, time, time"

"Kiss your ass goodbye, bye, bye, bye, bye"

"I’ll kiss your ass goodbye"

"Lie, Lie, Lie" is premiering on January 14.
