Fans have been accusing Joshua Bassett (Ricky) of "hating" Sofia Wylie (Gina) ever since the Disney+ livestream of the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' aired.

Let's rewind.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' has increased its popularity over the recent weeks and have gained more fans in the process. However, an old livestream of the cast on Disney+ had since resurfaced, and is causing rumours to spread that Joshua "hates" co-star, Sofia.

The interview was first streamed on November 15, and during it, Larry Saperstein (Big Red) told fans that "being friends with Sofia Wylie is the craziest thing". All the cast members enthusiastically agreed, with Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), saying:

"Literally she's the best."

However, Joshua didn't seem to react as enthusiastically as the rest. According to fans, Joshua had only murmured "sure" in response to Olivia's comment about Sofia being "the best".

This led to Sofia's fans quickly accusing Joshua of "hating" Sofia. However, Joshua's fans immediately leapt to his defence, arguing that the audio was too quiet and that in fact, it sounded like he said, "It's true".

Reportedly, Joshua had confirmed that this was what he actually said, by "liking" a tweet that said exactly this. A fan tweeted out the screenshot of the alleged "like", although this can no longer be found on his "liked" list.

The alleged "like" happened around January 19.

Meanwhile, other fans were tweeting out evidence that showed that Joshua was actually quite close to Sofia. They included one of Sofia's vlogs, titled, "My first Premiere ever with the CAST OF HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL - DISNEY+ | SOFIA WYLIE" where they both had hugged each other, and Joshua had even photobombed her later. There were also videos of the two dancing together.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has been renewed for a second season.
