On January 4, Jeffree Star and his family donated money to aid those affected by Australia fires. Fans are praising Jeffree for taking action, while others are accusing other influencers of only sending thoughts and prayers.
First of all, check out Jeffree's tweet below:
I "My family and I have donated this week and we are so devastated by what continues to happen in Australia, one of my favorite places on earth 💔 It’s horrifying to see what’s happening and they need all the help they can!!"
Jeffree then shared a link to a Twitter thread that informed fans of what is currently happening in Australia, including the devastating effects it's having on wildlife, people and communities.
The day previously, YouTuber Shane Dawson (who Jeffree collaborated with on Shane's Conspiracy palettes) had also called on fans to help donate. (Read more about it here). Shane had also provided links to 20 legitimate charities and organizations that fans could donate to.
Altogether, fans are praising Jeffree for donating to aid those affected by Australia fires.
Check out their tweets below:
I "Thank you to all that has donated! This means so much to us Aussies. We appreciate it so much. Thank you @JeffreeStar for using your platform."
I "It breaks our hearts to see all our animals dying and environment disappearing by the second. Your donation has saved us yet another minute or hour! We thank you so much Jeffree. Sincerely - Australia."
I "Thank you thank you thank you. We are feeling so alone over here 💞💞 people like you spreading awareness means the world to us 💖💖💖💖💖"
While praising Jeffree, fans also slammed other influencers for only sending "thoughts and prayers" and "sad faces".
I "THANK YOU for actually doing something other than thoughts and prayers <3"
I "Love how you took action unlike other celebrities just tweeting sad faces."
Several celebrities have now spoken up about the Australia fires, including Stranger Things' Dacre Montgomery, an Australian actor who has raised over $250,000 on his own GoFundMe, and YouTubers, Jake and Logan Paul, who also demanded fans to "stop scrolling" and to "start donating".
