On December 11, Beauty YouTuber James Charles uploaded a video ranking the "scandalous moments" in his career. In it, James speaks up about the Sister Squad.
Check out what James says below:
I "I have gotten so many questions, so many tweets, so many comments about [Sister Squad] for the last several years and I have avoided addressing it."
James then explains that the Sister Squad had made a big impact on his life as it lasted for almost a whole year.
I "[...] When I think back at the Sister Squad, this was a big, big part of my career. It lasted for like an entire year [...]"
However, he adds that although he is happy for the experience, he probably would not do it again.
I "I’m not gonna go into too much detail just out of respect for everybody that was in group, but [...] there’s no denying that the Sister Squad was a huge, huge part of my career, and was, honestly as much as I hate the word, iconic."
James then reminisces over the "fun" he had had when he filming with the Sister Squad and all the happy memories that he had gained. He also admits that he had rewatched Emma's Vegas vlog multiple times in the past for the nostalgia.
I "It was really, really cool to film these crazy, over the top videos with at the time, my best friends in the entire world and put them out for all of you guys to see. We never ever could have imagined how big the sister squad would have gotten."
I "The fans were so supportive as well, watching literally everything that we put out together. And we had a lot of fun with those videos."
I "There’s some of them, like Emma’s Vegas vlog which I have to admit, I’ve gone back and watched so, so many times.
Unfortunately, though, James reveals that "all good things" must come to an end and that the Sister Squad was "one of them".
I "You know, unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end at some point and the Sister Squad was one of them."
I "Basically we were all just at very, very different points in our careers and our lives and we needed to go in different directions that I promised that that was the best decision for everybody involved, including you guys as well."
On the bright side, James tells fans that he would be up to collaborating with former Sister Squad member Emma if fans wanted it.
I "A few months ago, I did actually reconnect with Emma which was honestly just incredible. And we did end up filming a collaboration as well which was so much fun and very nostalgic."
I "We definitely would do it again so if you guys want to see that, let us know."
Finally, James confirms that Sister Squad will not be "coming back anytime soon", but that it was probably in the best interests of everyone.
I "But as for the Sister Squad as a whole, it will definitely not be coming back anytime soon but that’s probably for the better and I’m going to leave the conversation at that."
The Sister Squad was made up of four members: James Charles, Ethan and Grayson Dolan, and Emma Chamberlain. The squad suddenly disbanded in late 2018 with various rumors speculating as to the reason why.
