On June 22, Beauty YouTuber James Charles tweeted out to fans that the trend of fake sexual assault allegations were "disgusting".
Let's rewind.
For those who don't know, false sexual assault allegations has recently popped up on Twitter. One of these victims included Riverdale's Cole Sprouse (Jughead) and fellow co-stars Lili Reinhart (Betty) and Vanessa Morgan (Toni), who were accused of sexual assault from various Twitter accounts.
However, these claims has since been shut down, as it appeared to have originated from the same IP address, or has since been admitted by the user as fabricated.
Anyway, on June 25, James took to Twitter to write:
I "sexual assault is really fucking serious and it is absolutely disgusting that making false allegations is becoming a trend right now!!! all it does is invalidate ACTUAL victims when they feel ready to come forward!!"
I "Victims deserve to be heard & should NEVER be invalidated, but it’s INSANE that anonymous, newly made accounts are popping up with stories and people are just believing it!! With no proof at all?!? I am not defending anyone, but there are always two sides to every story."
How did fans react?
Basically, fans are agreeing with James, but also pointed out that the #MeToo movement might actually be prompting legitimate claims, and that James shouldn't assume all of them are automatically lying.
Other fans, however, told James that he is implying that if a sexual assault victim lacks "solid rock evidence", they shouldn't be believed.

Meanwhile, others are asking what could be considered as evidence.
