On January 19, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Joshua Bassett (Ricky) has updated fans on his recovery after a surgery.

In an Instagram Story, he writes that he is "feeling much better" and is definitely "on the mend".

I"hi guys ! wanted to take a moment to thank you all and give you a little update. i am feeling much better !!! getting very excellent care and defininitly [sic] on the mend. really grateful to have so much support in this time and I promise there [sic] is much good to come. looking forward to getting back to work. thank you all again for your kindness !!! love to you all."

Joshua was rushed to the ER last Thursday on 14 January, the same day as his new song release 'Lie Lie Lie'.

In an Instagram post, Joshua explains that he had felt an "unknown, uncomfortable feeling" which suddenly turned into "the worst pain" of his life, and had no choice but to go to the hospital.

'Lie Lie Lie' has over 3.9 million views on YouTube in just under a week. In an Instagram Story, Joshua tells fans that the song was written about a friend who had been "lying" about him behind his back and would throw him "under the bus when it benefits them".

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' season 2 is currently filming. The season will centre around a Beauty and the Beast musical production.
