Gaten Matarazzo SLAMS Fans Who Calls Girlfriend Lizzy A 'Gold-Digger'

"I want to tell you [...] your girlfriend is a gold-digger and she can’t be trusted." A fan says to Gaten.

On December 30, Stranger Things' Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) slammed fans for calling his girlfriend, Lizzy Yu, a "gold-digger". 

Let's rewind.

During the Instagram Live, the subject of Gaten's girlfriend, Lizzy, came up. Gaten then revealed to fans that people are constantly messaging Lizzy on her Instagram account, asking why she was dating Gaten.

Others even went as far as saying that she was only dating the star because he was on Stranger Things.

I "I think the funniest thing in the world is when people comment on Lizzy’s page, like, 'Why are you dating him? Because he’s on a show?' Like, dude? Have you talked to her about it?"

Gaten also added that his fans even messaged him in private, sharing their "concern" that Lizzy was a "gold-digger".

​

​

I "Some people message me privately, and they’re like, 'I want to tell you this [...] from the bottom of my heart, I have nothing but love and appreciation for you... But your girlfriend is a gold-digger, and she can’t be trusted.'"

I "I’m like, when did you speak to her? They’re like, 'I haven't spoken to her'. I’m like, well then, mind your own business because you don’t know her at all."

Gaten also touched on the topic of fans accusing Lizzy of cheating on him with his own brother, Carmen. (Carmen is also a member of Gaten's band, "Work In Progress".)

This rumour came about after fans spotted a picture of Lizzy and Carmen together on a Ferris wheel at a carnival.

Carmen, who was also in Gaten's livestream, said:

I "People literally think that Lizzy’s cheating on *Gate with me. And I think it’s really funny.

​

​

*For those who don't know, "Gate" is Gaten's nickname.

​

Gaten also added:

​

I "And posting about [cheating]? It’s really funny. A lot of people are like, 'I wouldn’t want my sibling to hang out with my boyfriend'. I’m like, 'Well, you and your sibling have a terrible relationship. You need to fix that.'"

Afterwards, Gaten revealed to fans that Lizzy is, in fact, Carmen's best friend. Carmen then sarcastically remarked:

I "Excuse me for finding friends that happened to be my brother’s girlfriend, so I’m sorry."

​

Altogether, Gaten has been with Lizzy for two years and had attended junior prom together.

Stranger Things season 4 is expected to start shooting early next year in January 2020, and The Turning (2020) will be in theatres on January 24, 2020.
