Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard is set to lend his voice in an 'adult-oriented' animation with his older brother, Nick Wolfhard.
Yep.
In an interview with Pop Horror, Finn's brother, Nick Wolfhard, reveals that he and Finn are both working together on an adult-oriented animation for a big network.
Though Nick can't give out any more details just yet, he does hint that it will be a hilarious animation.
I "We are currently involved in an adult-oriented animated pilot for a big network that our friends are currently making."
I "I can’t say the details yet but I will [...] on social media [...] when I’m allowed. I can say that it is absolutely hilarious and I can’t wait for people to see."
Since this is an adult-oriented animation, it won't be catered towards young audiences like Nick's previous animations, i.e., The Last Kids on Earth. However, as Finn's fanbase does vary in ages, we're sure many of his fans will be drawn to the animation.
Fun fact: Finn and Nick Wolfhard have worked together before on Howard Lovecraft and the Kingdom of Madness (2018) as Herbert West and William Dyer’s voices respectively.
So what can we find out about the roles they'll be voicing?
Nick reveals that they will each have their own characters, but they will also share a character.
I “It’s funny because we both play our own characters, but we also share a role, so we both play one and a half character.”
Lines for the animation were also recorded at their own house, using Nick's own sound system. And yes, it's the exact same sound system he uses while streaming on Twitch. Of course, loyal fans will know that Nick is also a Twitch streamer with the username “thewolfhard”.
Is there nepotism involved?
Obviously, Finn Wolfhard is quite a celebrity, having been in Stranger Things, It (2017), It Chapter Two (2019), The Goldfinch (2019) and pretty soon, The Ghostbusters (2020). Not to mention the voice roles he has for Carmen Sandiego (2019) and The Addams Family (2019).
So some are wondering whether or not he's using nepotism to get ahead in the industry like Stranger Things' star, Maya Hawke AKA Robin.
Well, while Nick isn't exactly a fan and "like to earn things [himself]", he definitely sees the benefits of it. Check out what he said in an interview with UPI:
I "I like to earn things. [...] It definitely is a lot easier to kind of open up the doors, then you can prove to them that you are talented or that you are cool and you can do this."
And it's not that the two brothers' work often overlaps with each other. After all, Finn focuses more on movie roles while Nick is often lending his voice to animations.
And Nick is a pretty talented voice actor all on his own.
The Goldfinch (2019) is in US theatres now. Ghostbusters (2020) hits US theatres on July 10, 2020 and Stranger Things season 4 is expected to start shooting early next year in January 2020.
