On December 26, The Umbrella Academy's Ellen Page (Vanya Hargreeves) posted her honest thoughts on being gay.
Check out Ellen's Instagram post below:
I "I was closeted at the beginning of the decade. It was horrible. I am so lucky to be living my truth and I fucking love being queer. Much love to all. 🌈 ❤️."
In the post, there is a side by side comparison of two pictures of herself, one at the beginning of the decade and the other at the end of the decade.
The first picture is of herself at the premiere of Inception back in 2010. There, she's wearing a short, tight sea-green dress. This is a stark contrast to her second picture at The Umbrella Academy premiere in 2019, where she's in a black suit with a white tie.
However, it's not the style that's completely different. In fact, it's the confidence she has.
Even Ellen's fans have spotted it, with several filling the comment section with their opinion of how Ellen looks much more "comfortable and confident" in the second picture. Not only that, but they added how this is a perfect "queer glow-up".
Fellow The Umbrella Academy co-star, Justin H. Min (Ben Hargreeves) also saw the Instagram post, and commented:
I "building buildings with your mind to destroying them with your mind. we stan the evolution." - Justin H. Min (Ben)
Kate Walsh (The Handler), also commented:
I "I love this @ellenpage."
And finally, The Umbrella Academy's official Instagram account responded with:
I "🖤🖤🖤"
Ellen had affected many people positively when she came out as gay back on February 14, 2014, at a Human Rights Campaign, 'Time To Thrive'.
Fans reflected back on how she had helped them in their own journey in coming out.
I "you were the catalyst for my coming out journey. i will never forget the day i huddled in the corner of my room at age 12 to watch your coming out story —the first one i ever watched. i am forever grateful. much love."
The Umbrella Academy season 2 wrapped up filming last month in November 2019.
