BTS and Ariana Grande MIGHT Collab "Leaksy" Insider Hints
“We always want to collaborate with Ariana. She’s one of the best.” BTS' RM told Billboard last year.
20 January 2021 by Fachana Techamaneewat
On January 20, rumours circulated social media that an unknown "insider" "Leaksy" has hinted that there might be a BTS and Ariana Grande collaboration in the works.
Let's rewind.
According to Allkpop, the insider has previously leaked the remixes of The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" and Ariana Grande's "34+35", Katy Perry's new music video, Zayn's latest album and the collaboration between Saweetie and Doja Cat's "Best Friend".
Although nothing has yet been confirmed from either Big Hit Entertainment or Ariana, nor has the source of the account "Leaksy" been found, fans are taking it as fact that Ariana might be collaborating with popular K-pop band, BTS, with their track set to be released later this year.
Due to the vagueness of the news, fans have begun to compile "evidence" to support the alleged collaboration between Ariana and BTS:
I "@BTS_twt's RM says that he listened to @ArianaGrande's "Positions" (Album) & "34+35" during working out & the title track "Positions" , he says also the songs are casual & refreshing."
I "What if Namjoon and the rest of @BTS_twt are listening to Ariana Grande's album because they want to study/know the flow, the vibe etc. of Ariana's songs? Like.... Hello #BTSARMY???? ARITAN IS REALLY COMING!"
How did other fans react to the news?
The majority of fans are thrilled about the potential collaboration. These fans reckon the collaboration will be iconic, citing them as "collab legends" and soon-to-be "collab of the year".
However, it appears a few Arianators aren’t happy. They claimed that BTS was "using" Ariana for "views" and as an opportunity to enter the Western market.
Fans quickly rushed to BTS' defence slamming back by saying that neither artist required the other's help as they were both famous individually.
I "ariana doesn’t need bts and bts don’t need ariana. they’re musicians. they make music cause that’s what they love to do. what’s not clicking. #ARITANISCOMING"
I "Must I remind you that bts r the only act in history to occupy top2 best selling abum WW, dynamite best selling download US in 2020.MOTS7 is the only album to go 1 in all major music industries.ALL THIS WITH NO COLLAB."
I "Ariana and BTS are both very successful artists and if the collab will happen it will benefit for everyone. If you don't like the idea it's your choice but respect it"
What were Ariana Grande and BTS' past interactions?
Last year on January 23, Ariana tweeted out her first interaction with BTS:
I "look who i bumped into at rehearsal :)"
Ariana later tweeted out that watching BTS rehearse was "the most incredible thing I've ever seen".
I "honestly...... i was able to watch them rehearse for something and it was the most incredible thing i’ve ever seen. i’m not kidding. i was screaming. i couldn’t stop talking about it / still can’t."
BTS' RM also spoke about it encounter to Entertainment Tonight:
I “Ariana’s practicing next to our big studio and she said she wanted to see our rehearsal and what we’re doing, and we showed her … and we saw hers, so we know what she’s doing tonight and it’s the greatest,”
Later, to Billboard, RM added that they have always wanted to collaborate with Ariana because "she's one of the best".
And finally, Ariana "liked" a tweet of a clip where BTS Taehyung stated that he wanted to collab with Ariana.
BTS has previously collaborated with other American singers, including Halsey (Boys With Luv), Nicki Minaj (IDOL) and DJ Steve Aoki (Mic Drop, Waste It On Me and The Truth Untold).
