On December 18, a sexualized tweet about American singer and songwriter, Billie Eilish, goes viral just as she turns 18, and fans are outraged.

Let's rewind.

Billie turned 18 on December 18, a moment that a lot of fans were waiting for. But unfortunately, it seems that there were many who were excited for all the wrong reasons. During the build-up to Billie's birthday, fans were already on their toes, expecting there to be many sexualized comments about Billie, now that she was turning a "legal age".

And unfortunately, their fears were came true.

As soon as the day arrived, a Twitter user tweeted this out:

"billie eilish turned 18 today...?? ya'll know what that means."

*Attached to the tweet is three pictures of Billie Eilish, all of which highlighted Billie's breasts or bottom.

The tweet quickly went viral, and at the time of writing, currently has over 15.7k retweets and over 93.7k likes.

It came to the attention of Billie's fans, and they were soon calling the Twitter user out for sexualizing Billie. Many also labelled the user a "paedophile" and condemned them for sexualizing and objectifying Billie. They also pointed out that Billie wasn't yet 18 in the pictures and was still a minor.

Soon after, the Twitter user came forward to explain that the tweet was a "joke" and that "ya'll needa chill". He claimed that all he meant was that driving restrictions would be lifted, and that he was in fact, 17-years-old.

However, fans weren't happy with the explanation. They argued back that even if he was 17, it didn't excuse him for sexualizing Billie, especially as Billie had spoken out before about how she didn't want to be sexualized or objectified. This was one of the reasons why she wore huge baggy clothes.

Billie's fans also said that it didn't matter if the tweet was a "joke" because some jokes were off-limits.

"Some jokes aren't just it. What y'all doing is contributing to rape culture."

They were also disgusted at the fact the tweet went viral as it meant that there are many, possibly fully grown adults, who "agreed" with the tweet.

“the person that made it is 17” “its bait and you fell for it” so people that are liking& retweeting couldnt be fully grown adults that were sexually attracted to billie for years and made a whole deal about her being 18??? all of them looked at this tweet as a joke? doubtful."

Others also believed that the original tweet wasn't intended to be a joke and that it was just an excuse after receiving so much negative attention.
