On October 11, The Umbrella Academy's Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) revealed to fans that he enjoyed filming the iconic "I'm The Daddy Here!" scene.
Ever since The Umbrella Academy season 2 hit Netflix on July 31, fans have labelled specific scenes as iconic, most notably the "I'm the Daddy Here" scene.
Aidan spoke about how he loved acting out the scenes where Number Five is negatively affected by "paradox psychosis", especially as Number Five is a lot louder in this way, making him more similar to the character in The Umbrella Academy comic books.
I "One of the most fun scenes [...] was the paradox psychosis."
I "[...] Not only was there a bunch of different layers to how I wanted to portray that, but I got to be loud in a way that Five is in the comic books but never really is in the show."
I "That outburst of [Five] saying 'I'm the daddy here' was very very fun to say because it just allowed me to shout and scream."
Aidan then compares Number Five from The Umbrella Academy TV series to the comic books, saying that there is some sort of "seriousness" in the TV series' version of Five, compared to how he is in the comics.
I "In the show, it's sort of this seriousness."
I "Although [Five's] doing these very energetic things, he doesn't necessarily shout and scream and be as aggressively loud as he is in the comic books."
Aidan also had the opportunity to revisit the comic book series as Number Five as back in August last year, he and The Umbrella Academy co-stars Justin H. Min (Ben) and Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison) read out pages from the comic books.
I "And we also did a comic book reading for The Umbrella Academy comic books and I got to actually portray that side of [Five]."
I "And I realised how much I enjoyed screaming as Number Five because he doesn't really get to do that a lot. But he does in the comic books all the time."
Fun fact: At the time of writing, "I'm the Daddy here!" scene has over 1.5 million views on YouTube.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 will begin shooting soon. The Umbrella Academy season 1-2 is available for streaming on Netflix.
